That's true I guess. I never enjoyed the Lex/Clark relationship on Smallville so I hope it's not too similar to that.

Honestly I never particularly cared for Clark/Lex relationship (or at least when I still watch the show I kind of stop during S7), but in a few ways I can see Tommy/Olivers relationship being somewhat similar to it.

I could barely get past the first season of Smallville due to extreme Lana Lang hatred but I hated the friendship because I always knew it was doomed. It seemed pointless.

I was more of a Chloe fan. But I don't think I've ever really hated Lana completely. There were a few times I dislike her actions, but I can say that for pretty much every character I like or is a fav. of mine.

I just hated the character and found her to just become more Mary Sueish as the show went on. I loved Chloe though.

I kind of hated who she ended up with, but I pretty much stop watching before then.
But honestly I think Im going to have a hate/love relationship with Tommy/Oliver. __________________

I kind of wonder if Tommy resents Oliver in a way. At least when it comes to Laurel and her feelings for Oliver.
