Honestly I always thought that Marc's perspective was a little too biased. The show is not exactly the comics but it has a lot of its essence. Felicity and Diggle were wonderful additions to Green Arrow but I feel that the Black Canary story was very bad handled. They have made several mistakes and I still don't understand why they even got into there. I never like this "Thea killed Sara" thing. I think characters died easily at some point and the dies/comes back from the death became an awful tool for Arrow. Oliver's romances drama with Laurel or with Felicity were at points exhausting, and the show felt at times like a soap opera. The only relationship that was more balanced was Oliver/Sara. But Nyssa was there too (the very good thing is that there was not a love triangle). I don't like most of the writers decisions because I think that if he made other choices, we wouldn't have had 3 canaries. I like Dinah but I still don't get the point. Also why we don't see Sin? Why Wild Cat didn't become a bigger thing for the show?
Although Arrow is one of my favorite TV shows, I recognize that it hasn't kept the same quality in all seasons. They made several mistakes too. This happens to most series, there are only a few who are exceptional. Season 5 was amazing, but it lives with the mistakes from the past, and often you notice them.

I absolutely agree. I think the fandom may be a very good and a very bad thing. Some TV shows kept doing and didn't grant the fandom's wishes and it didn't end well. Others focused on the fandom's opinion and made bad decisions. Rating and fandom are a complicated thing, I guess.

This is a pretty long interview with James Bamford but it is a really good read. It talks a bit about his early career and people he had stunt doubled for. Then it gets int detail about him now and actually getting to direct for Arrow.
