I think so too but if they were to do it, that would be the only option. But yeah it would undermine things. Honestly there is so much risk to the people he loves if he reveals himself and I just can't see him ever taking that kind of risk. Not this shows Oliver. The last thing Oliver would ever do is needlessly endanger those he loves. It would be super super OOC for him to do that and I don't see the writers letting him get accidentally outed either, they wouldn't take that decision away from him. I don't think it's going to happen and I really don't know why anyone wants that.

I dont disagree with it being problematic i still think it could be an interesting end to the series though just not before then for all the reasons you said and more/ It would be Like dropping the mic so to speak. I loved the "I am the green arrow" in the S4 premiere so in my mind him coming out as the Arrow seems just as powerful.

Any powerfulness would just be overridden by the stupidity of that decision. Even if he was retiring it would be a dumb thing to do. Just because he wants to quit doesn't mean his enemies will quit or will forget things he's done. And he's about to face a revenge minded big bad so that idea should be driven home even more. I actually don't get how people think he's going to reveal himself in season where the big bad is specifically targeting him and probably his loved ones for revenge. I mean that's just more proof he can't reveal himself. It makes no sense for anyone to believe this would be the season he'd do that. Not that I think he'd ever do that. But especially not this season with the revenge minded big bad. I don't care how emotionally healthy he gets, I can't see Oliver taking that risk. He even said in the first Flash crossover that his identity getting out would endanger his loved ones and embolden his enemies to hurt him through them. There's literally not a good reason for it. All the people he loved know his secret. That's all that matter. There's not a good reasons to do it, it accomplishes nothing, there's nothing to gain from it, but it does put everyone he looked in danger. And it doesn't matter how skilled they are, they can still get hurt or killed. They've learned that lesson all too well. There's just no reason for it and it doesn't fit who Oliver is. I will be very disappointed if the show goes there because it makes no sense.

I always thought that Green Arrow didn't reveal his identity. I'm not sure what other superheroes from DC do, like Batman or Superman, but I wouldn't like to see Oliver revealing the truth. If they writers decide to do it, probably it will happen in the series finale and not this season (well, who says season five is not the last one...). Anyways, I would have said the same about Laurel, and when she died and everyone wanted to show to Star City that she was the Black Canary, I changed my point of view about it and I liked how they handled it. I don't think the same could apply to Oliver because he's been criticized in the past. Maybe people reacted differently because (if I'm not wrong), BC wasn't a murderer. But who knows, perhaps Star City citicizens forgot about "The Hood" and now they have a clean image of Green Arrow or of vigilantes.

LL is dead and was a vigilante for like a year, she didn't make any enemies other than kind of DD and they only revealed her to fix her image that Evelyn was affecting, it's very different from Oliver being alive and revealing himself with all his years vigilantism and his missing years too because bad guys have come from that time too. And it doesn't matter if the citizens love or hate Oliver and/or TA, it's too dangerous and risky and there's nothing to be gained from it. And I don't know what the comic books did but it doesn't matter, this is a different Oliver and SC. It's a terrible idea and it doesn't fit who Oliver is. He doesn't care about the glory and thanks. But he does care about his loved ones and that move would put them at so much risk. Never needs to happen ever.
