We didn't really find out the true reason with the connection of the Doppleganger. Only over the curse.

Yes Josie. I've always thought that. She was hurt by Kol and Klaus, both injuries to the head.

I think I heard that we eventually get to see the doppelganger. Like it took what 3 seasons to reveal how Stefan and Damon were uncles.

Yes. If you remember from s1, their "uncle" Zach, it was reveal that Damon and Stefan was really his uncles. In s3 it was breifly mention that their dad had affairs with the servants.
