Awesome sounds like something the Amell-cousins of Stephen||Robbie did - their Code 8 is 100% fan funded related to how they did a 10 minute trailer last year and than gave swag items for people to buy in order to donate to their cause of getting their project they filmed and made it this summer excited

^ Since Joseph and Michael didn't share any scenes on The Vampire Diaries and it's not likely that they'll be sharing scenes on The Originals, the fact that Joseph acknowledged/supported Michael with his music is the next best thing. My wish got granted with that tweet, and I couldn't be happier.

Well I think TVD and TO did film close by so probably they ran across each other? and then there are conventions as well.
