That's why I don't hate we didn't see the ElijahHaley dance the remaining minutes of the brothers conversation was just too beautiful and it gave me PB feelings where its fandom had a problem with no Michael|Sara BUT to me the shows [TO and PB] were always formost IMO about brothers and what brothers would do for each other

So even if haven't finished TVD - STefan sarcificing himself for Damon IMO made sense cause it too was about the Salvatore brothers at the front

^ to that whole first paragraph. The familial bond was the core of the show. Of course I would have loved to have seen Klaus and Elijah each end up with a lady love. The reason that I wasn't as bothered as I would have normally been was because I knew that their brotherly bond was going to be featured more prominently.

I get it. Even though I wasn't really that invested in The Vampire Diaries after the season five finale, I do think that the ending with Stefan and Damon made sense to me too.

^ I have a lot of thoughts about the show, especially season six and beyond. I would have quit the show if it hadn't been for my appreciation for Caroline and my desire to see her journey.

I wonder if TPTB considered another ending for Klaus and Elijah.

I don't see any other ending would have worked or been that beautiful or powerful

^ Sometimes I think that I would have preferred their survival over a powerful or beautiful ending for them.

^ I haven't thought that far yet. Deep down, I knew that there was a chance that one or both of them weren't going to survive the series finale, but I didn't really let myself believe it. Sometimes, reality is not easy for me to accept.

^ Exactly! I was so sure that Elijah wasn't going to survive the series finale...but I didn't fully believe that Klaus was also going to drift off until it actually happened. It was too much for me to deal with.

^ I thought that Klaus was going to somehow find a loophole where he was going to survive. Elijah's fate seemed more clear to me after he got his memories back and he realized that he could have saved Hayley.

Do you think the ending would have been the same if Elijah had been the one who was going to sacrifice himself for his family? Do you think Klaus would have made the same choice that Elijah did, to leave the world with his brother?

Yea I think even before his memories -- once I learnt of the spoiler before the premiere of Hayley's death figured Elijah wouldn't survivie

Ultimately if it had been reversed I think yea not exactly sure how but I think utlimately how it was done was PERFECT -- the sacrifice and the ultimate redemption

^ I didn't know about that spoiler, so that scene was a total shock to me.

I think so too. From episode one, we saw how closely they were tied to one another. If one of them was going to die, then it was pretty much a done deal that the other one was going to join his brother.
