Still don't know why he died. It wasn't any sort of motivation for anyone, not even Wanda. Yeah, she ripped out Ultron's heart but he didn't die, just jumped bodies.

It came off as a copout to me. Whedon kept saying an Avenger was going to get killed, but of course it wasn't one of the main ones.
