The first weekend of May is pretty much Marvel's go-to date. It's the anniversary of their first ever release (Iron Man) and usually when they release their biggest movies (Iron Man 2, Thor, Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers 2, Civil War, Guardians Vol. 2, Infinity War, and Avengers 4).
I think it's about spacing out their summer releases so they don't compete with each other at the box office. They often release another movie in June/July/August. __________________

lol Yeah, what's so strange about it? They always release a movie on the first Friday in May. Plus, that's when all the Summer blockbusters really start dropping.

They've had this date set for a few years though. I guess they could always change it, but the posts a above are right. They've always released a movie the first weekend in May.
