Maybe with it doing better than expected, we'll get a sequel in Phase 4?

MOVIES: Ant-Man and the Wasp - Marvel Announces Ant-Man Sequel + Phase 3 Release Dates Updates | Spoilers

Quote:
Now that Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially reached its conclusion with the release of Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” we have new details on what to expect in Phase 3!

Following our hero’s debut adventure in this summer’s “Ant-Man,” Scott Lang will return alongside Hope Van Dyne on July 6, 2018 with Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The sequel will mark the first Marvel Studios film named after its heroine.

Additionally, Ant-Man’s second adventure will lead to a couple of other films shifting their dates, with Marvel’s “Black Panther” moving up to February 16, 2018 and Marvel’s “Captain Marvel” landing on March 8, 2019.

Finally, three untitled Marvel Studios films will premiere on May 1, 2020, July 10, 2020, and November 6, 2020.

The announcement of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” follows the success of “Ant-Man,” which has earned $178.5M domestically and $231.3M internationally for a global total of $409.8M. It's the #9 film of the year domestically, and opens in its final international market, China, on October 16.

“Ant-Man” followed one of this year’s biggest blockbusters, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which has earned $458.9M domestically and $946M internationally for a global total of $1,404.9M, making it the #2 film of the year domestically and the #6 film of all time globally.

I had no doubt Antman would get a sequel but it's nice to see it confirmed. I liked the movie and wanted a sequel, especially to see if they get the original Wasp back (which they clearly will, especially when they showed that picture of Hank and her together) I'm also glad to hear Black Panther got pushed up. I hated that it got pushed back to do a third reboot of Spiderman

Oh, please! No they're not bringing the original Wasp back with Hank! I've told you several times that this is Kevin fiege's agenda to trash the legacy of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne by replacing them with two irrelevant knock-offs like Scott Lang and Hope"I-don't-even-exist" Van Dyne! 50 years of Marvel comics history and Janet Van Dyne doesn't even get recognized in the MCU, instead she gets replaced by Evangeline Lily's MC2-based character who was never the Wasp at all, she was Hope Pym/Red Queen from an alternate universe. Hank and Janet never had a daughter, people! Hank's not an old man in the comics, and yet they chose to portray him as an old, decrepit Michael Douglas just to accommodate Edgar Wright, whose Ant-Man movie was never meant to be part of the MCU at all and which he only ended up quitting because it didn't fit into the MCU, which means it should never have been used!

Do you not realize that Hank and Janet's entire storyline is contained within the pages of the Avengers comic, which makes any attempt at a so-called "prequel" impossible because removing them from the Avengers kills their entire story? Do you not realize that Michael Douglas is not slated to appear in any more MCU movies, and that Paul Rudd's Scott Lang and Evangeline Lily's Hope Van Dyne will be the MCU's go-to Ant-Man and Wasp, totally disrespecting Hank and Janet's legacy and tossing them aside like garbage? Do you not realize that Hank and Janet will not only never get their due on screen as members of the Avengers, but that as a result of this movie, both Hank and Janet have been effectively phased out of the Marvel comics universe as well for the foreseeable future?

And seriously, they even got Hank and Janet's characters and powers totally wrong! They made Hank look like a rip-off of Tony Stark, when in the comics Hank never had his own tech company. He worked for the government or got grants from other companies. And Hank and Janet didn't need suits to grow and shrink. Again, the MCU is making them out to be Iron Man rip-offs. Hope's Wasp outfit at the end of Ant-Man had mechanical wings attached to it. Seriously? Hank and Janet's suits weren't what made them superheroes, it was the Pym particles that gave them their powers, first in gas form and then in pill form. They didn't need suits. And after prolonged exposure to the Pym particles they became permanently absorbed into Hank and Janet's bodies, allowing them to grow and shrink at will whenever they wanted, suit or no suit. And Janet's costume didn't have wings, her wings were bio-synthetic and grew out of her own body! Seriously, who is running Marvel Studios?

And all because of Kevin Feige's own ignorant prejudice against their characters and his insistence on shoehorning Edgar Wright's Avengers-incompatible Ant-Man script into the MCU, which he himself had to admit wasn't working and which only ended with Edgar Wright quitting the project, making it all a complete waste of time. They could've and should've just done what Joss Whedon wanted to do and have Hank and Janet in the Avengers, but Feige ruined that. And by not having Hank and Janet in the Avengers, the entire Avengers storyline is also compromised as evidenced by all the restructuring that needed to be done in order to account for their absence, which resulted in the complete mess that was Age of Ultron. 50 years of comic book history and Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne's entire legacy thrown away just because of Kevin Feige's stupidity, and one overrated hack named Edgar Wright, who hasn't done anything anyone's cared about since Shaun of the Dead. I'm so done with Marvel!
