Pfff ok, here goes the list. On some of them I have a lot of catching up to do.
Doctor Who Game Of Thrones Arrow Once Upon A Time The Big Bang Theory The Originals Supernatural (although I've kind of given up on it) The Vampire Diaries (Pretty much given up on this one as well) Hannibal Agents of SHIELD The Mentalist (still have to watch the last season) Sleepy Hollow (same here) The Legend of Korra (a lot of catching up to do) Criminal Minds (I'm also very behind on this one) Then there are also those that I have already finished or that I plan to watch as soon as I get the time. |

Whoa, that's a lot of shows!
About the Game of Thrones premiere: I realize they were trying to catch up with everyone (except Arya); but it seemed a shame to waste an hour on scenes that were, in large part, invented by the showrunners. I knew this season was going to depart from the books even more than last, and I thought I was mentally prepared to accept this as a good show that happens to use the same names as ASOIAF (but otherwise has no relationship to the books). But maybe I'm not. There is plenty of material in books 4 & 5 to carry several more seasons IF they included Oldtown, the Iron Islands storylines, White Harbor, Prince Quentyn, and all Tyrion's river/Volantis sequences. To name just a few! And it's such a shame they're replacing Arianne's part in Dorne with Elaria. -------- I'll be watching Nashville tonight. __________________

Yeah.
Invented? Not really. Maybe a bit different than how they were in the books but it's to be expected when transferring mediums. Not everything that works for a novel works for TV. They shortened Tyrion's stay in Pentos and added Varys in the mix and maybe a bit the scene with Sansa, but other than that, I thought the scenes were pretty legit. I agree that they could definitely have gone a different way about it. They didn't include a lot of things that they could have, but it's a bit late for that now. My biggest issue is that they're catching up with the books fast and they could have dragged it out at least another season if they had stayed as true to the books as they did the first season or two. As far as I've read, GRRM has told the producers where the characters end up so they won't completely make anything up even when the show surpasses the books, but they will inevitably diverge more and more from now on. They may well include Oldtown, that's not excluded. Don't know about the Iron Islands, but it doesn't seem like it. They should have gone more evenly with the stories IMO. They're all at completely different points. They practically finished some stories, while some still have a long way to go. |

Karom, I'm aware of all that. I have to pretty much keep up on all the rumors and spoilers because I maintain the GoT thread at the Spoilers & Speculation board: Game of Thrones S&S #5
I thought (and I believe GRRM thought, too) that D&D would be more faithful to the source material throughout the series. Can you name a scene from Ep 5.01 that actually happened in the books as it did on the screen? ---------- Pari, you need to catch up on Elementary. S2 is almost over and it has been so good! __________________

@Jis_Bon Ah, well you might not want to read my post then. I have tried to be vague, but still.
Well, if you mean word for word and frame for frame, then no. But it's absurd to expect them to do that. But most of what happened pretty much happened in the books. Of course there were slight variations like Mance being shot with one arrow instead of three or Cersei and Jaime's conversation in the Sept or crypt or whatever that was, but I don't find these very bothersome. The only scenes that were made up was the one in Loras' bed chamber. But scenes with him and Margaery are generally made up because they are mostly seen through Cersei's eyes in the books, so we don't see anything intimate or when she is not present. And the one with Sansa. I don't remember that in the books, but then it was rather short and insignificant. Oh, and Tyrion, but that one is understandable because his whole time in Pentos is basically a long interior monologue that you just can't put on screen. My biggest issue with the episode is that they had a bunch of useless filler scenes. I know that's what I was thinking of while watching. Like that Brienne scene. I totally forgot about it until I just saw a review of the episode now. I think they just had to put her in there by contract or something. |

I'm sorry, Pari.
I'll say no more about it, and I'm afraid it's too late to add spoiler tags. ---------- Watching another episode of Dead Like Me tonight. __________________

I didn't misunderstand, hon; but I also don't want to spoil it for you.
We ended up watching 2 episodes of Dead Like Me before Nashville tonight. Pari, I think you'd enjoy that series. It's very amusing. __________________
