Benedict Cumberbatch Knows Moriarty Plot Twist Secret

Benedict Cumberbatch knows the “weird” secret behind Moriarty’s Sherlock Series 4 return. Speaking to MTV, the actor said he’s been told the secret behind the Moriarty plot twist, which saw the antagonist ‘return from the dead’ at the end of Series 3, describing it as “a very good idea”: “Yes. I think so. I casually choose to forget in order to rediscover it again a little bit. It’s very weird. Our audience hit with it is when Martin [Freeman] and I read the script. “And also when we get a rough idea of where it’s going to go before we get the script. But I like casually forgetting, not least because there’s a lot of other traffic between then and now but also because it’s more fun because it’s slightly more fresh. But it’s a very good idea, I do remember that detail. I’m just trying not to remember it so I don’t blurt it out.” Cumberbatch also described the plan for Series 4 as “exciting” and believes it can better Series 3: “I’m ridiculously excited about it because the whole purpose of us doing it again is that we can do it better than we did it last time and the pitch for this series is so exciting.” Sherlock returns with Series 4 and a one-off special in January 2015.

Me too! I loved Series 3 but my co-watcher son didn't care for it, so Series 4 needs to step it up a bit for him.

I think he disliked all the interpersonal stuff. He likes Sherlock best when cases are being solved. Go figure.

I re-watched 3x01 tonight. There was time wasted on a lot of fancy camera work, but it looked cool. I love the scene in the train car.

^ He likes the crime-solving aspect of the show...I get that. But the relationships between the characters makes it so much more interesting!

I know a few people who aren't "fandom" types and definitely didn't like all the interpersonal stuff. One of my friends just straight up went "I don't care about Sherlock and John's relationship. I just want the mysteries." When I pointed out that the show isn't a detective series, but rather a series about a detective he went, "Huh. *stares into space*"

In general, Sherlock and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) solve a crime each week; but the relationships are important as well.

I watched a few episodes late last season. It's difficult to pick up a show, even a procedural, when you haven't seen the early character development.
