Not based, the show was developed independently, they just had the same characters and a similar outline. The first book was published towards the end of 2013, when the show had already been picked up/partly written/filmed.

^ I agree.. I take books over the shows.. Bec I was like that's not what I want.. Plus I want to see both Chuck and Dan making out w/ other dudes since both of them are bi.. Sigh..

They probably thought it would be too risky, feared backlash. My book OTP was Blair/Nate and I also loved book Vanessa.

That's stupid.. Same here about Blair/Nate since I prefer them in the book more than on the show.. But honestly, I love the book!characters more than TV!characters..
