Couples #2: Shipping everyone with Jake!

Welcome to the Couples Thread!

Some of our YA couples have their own threads, such as:

...but there's so much more loving going on on the show! There are:

Rainbowers (Scout/Bella)
Townies (Bella/Will)
Ham on Rye (Hamilton/Ryder)
JaBees (Bella/Jake)
Scake (Jake/Scout)
Shake (Jake/Sean)
Jayder (Jake/Ryder)
Surburbians (Scout/Jill from New Beginnings)
Half-shell roadtrippers (Scout/Faye from Nicky's YA Episodes)
Amnesiacs (Ryder/Josh from from Nicky's YA Episodes)

...and many more couples! This is the place to discuss any YA couple you can think of! Have fun!

So Im guessing the list needs updating and the name of the thread I think was discussed back in the last thread but I couldnt find it exactly so I went with this

Oh very excited about this new thread. Jake's ability to be loved and shipped with everyone deserves to be celebrated.

It's kind of funny that in the series everyone loves Bella, but in YA fanfic, it's like everyone loves Jake.

Jake as a character is just so much more fascinating and intriguing!

She's edgy and weird and adventurous and, obviously, up for anything. It's very difficult to find anything more outrageous than what Jake did for attention so it's so easy to drop her into weird scenarios and let her take off.

True that Bella is nice but nice gets old fast. Nice is boring.

Yeah, I like how Bella's usually reduced to sidekick in fanfic.

That seems appropriate to me. I mean, don't get me wrong I like Bella, and I think she is a good character, but she really is not that unique. I mean how many different shows have had characters very similar to her on it (Dawson's Creek, Joey ?).

Whereas Jake is a totally unique and novel character that has so many layers to uncover, it is only fitting that she take center stage. And achieve complete male domination of Rawley

The Hallmark Channel is filled with nice hometown girl leads like Bella. Although the gender bender genre has been played many times over, Kate M's portrayal of Jake is just out of the ballpark.

Agreed. Also, I think she is not involved in any relationships that are particularly interesting and special, unlike the J/H relationship.

That's why I'm sending a friend who, I suspect, hasn't seen YA yet a copy of the series. We met and bonded over another gender-bender drama so I know YA will be a hit. The J/H romance should be made known to everyone. I feel it's my duty to increase the cult following. I call it my very own vocation campaign.

Definitely. The whole Bella/Scout storyline was so tired, but Jake and Ham were so new and intriguing, you couldn't help but fall for them.

I hear you on that! J/H is such a unique story.

The main reason I really cared about Scout/Bella was because I adore Scout and just wanted him to be somewhat happy. But they did not have a chemistry even close to the one between Jake/Ham.

To continue the discussion on Finn/Kate and unaired Pilot Finn/Kate from the J/H thread:

Yes, same here. I think maybe it's also because Ham's mum looks, well, innocent with a dash of boring? She doesn't look like a woman that would have a hot affair behind her husband's back.

I totally agree... she looks a little to matronly however now if they had cast Michelle Pfeiffer as Hamilton's mom....*whistles* it would have been a whole different story.
