Rosalyn Rosenfeld (American Hustle) #5 ~ "Sometimes in life, all you have are ****ed up, poisonous choices."
Welcome to Rosalyn Rosenfeld (American Hustle) thread #5 ▮ Fans ▮ Future Titles “Jennifer Lawrence steals this movie, as she steals every movie. Pity any actress or actor who acts in the same movie as she does. She is a hurricane.” “I don’t know why. Maybe I just wanted to kiss Jennifer. She’s just so cute.” – Amy Adams ▮ Synopsis From Wikipedia: A brilliant con man, Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his British partner and lover, but frightened newbie grifter, Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), are recruited and forced to work for an FBI agent, Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), who pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that is as dangerous as it is enchanting. The operation eventually involves the Mayor of Camden, New Jersey, Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner), caught between the con-artists and the Feds. Irving's wife, Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence), could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. ▮ Information First Look at American Hustle Jennifer Lawrence Steals the Show in 'American Hustle' First Screening - TheWrap Oscars: David O.Russell's American Hustle Wows At First Industry Screening - Deadline.com Eric Singer's First Draft Screenplay Note: David O. Quite possibly one of my fave gifs. I think for obvious reasons. Mainly cause I wish that she were talking to me. __________________

It's why the arguments about Jennifer's age never held up for me. Rosalyn is supposed to be young. In fact they do their best to play up her youth (something both David and Jennifer mentioned in multiple interviews). It’s fundamental to understanding her relationship with Irving. Rosalyn is the poster girl for Daddy issues, and she casts Irving, perhaps unconsciously, into a sort of twisted paternal role, that she then rebels against like a troubled teenager (see the ‘science oven’ incident). This is mixed with some childishly brazen attempts to entice him sexually, or use her sexuality almost like a cudgel (the kiss she violently plants on Irving’s mistress) in the war she’s waging to keep control of him. That’s before we even bring her child into the equation. It's a complexity which emerges in the performance rather than from the text necessarily, which is one of the many reasons why it was deserving of an Oscar nomination. __________________

Totally agreed! You nailed it on the head!
Even at one point her character goes 'Treat me like a child" And this is right before the Science Oven thing happens. But yeah. Jen is the one who makes this character. And without her it wouldn't have been so great or even care for that character as much. __________________
