I liked Civil War a lot, but I do think its qualities got overblown. About as much as XMA's failings have been. Of the two, I think I might prefer Apocalypse though. Singer's textures are just more interesting, even if Civil War does have the better script.

Really hopin' to see more of these guys..

Good start, but still early days...

Well, I saw Apocalypse today and I liked it. Not as much as DoFP but that's probably my favorite comic book movie. I rate Apocalypse up there with First Class which it resembled in some ways. Are comic book and X-Men fans loving this more than the critics? It seemed much more like a comic book adaptation than the last two. Maybe that's why the critics are dry-humping Civil War but getting out the poison pen for Apocalypse.

The part that I felt was the weakest was the early part with Apocalypse recruiting his Four Henchmen. And Apocalypse himself didn't impress me right. Sorry, Oscar. The voice seems a bit silly coming out of that body. I wish they had made more effort to make him more massive. His makeup with the tubing wasn't great either. I will say that while my main feeling at first was dislike, he became more genuinely scary in the second half. The main flaw is exactly what James McAvoy (below) posited as praise for this film: Apocalypse is not really relatable, unlike most X-Men film villains. No decent person in his right mind wants to be on Apocalypse's side, not even his Horsemen.

The other characters, the old and the new, were very good. I wouldn't say that there were too many characters exactly, except there were. Each one got enough time to make their story-line good but none enough to deeply move the audience. Okay, Fassbender did but he was acting the **** out of his scenes.

BTW, I called that Danger Room scene being post-climatic. I guess the trailers and promotional material did give away too much. I even guessed beforehand that Havoc dies when A & the H's showed up first because he was in so many early scenes and no later ones. That's even before the later clip with Raven saying only she and Hank were left from the FC X-Men.

And for Jen, she was good. All that "bored" or "sleepwalking" talk is just ignorant hate. She didn't have the intense scenes like DoFP but better low-key character revealing moments. FC: Charles changes Eric's mind. DoFP: Charles changes Raven's mind. A: Raven changes Eric's mind. Nice ties back to the earlier two films by flashbacks and appeals to family. Although I didn't care for Apocalypse bringing Eric to Auschwitz. LIke Apocalypse would have given a rat's butt about the Holocaust.

One thing that bodes well for future X-Flicks is that all of the young X-Men were very good and I liked them all. Archangel and Psylocke were pretty much just thugs but I liked Jean, Scott, Crawler ("no, it's Nightcrawler" ['My name is Kurt."]), and Storm are very appealing. And Quicksilver brings greatly needed comedy to the films.

OHHHHHH I just watched the movie!! I really liked
LOVE Quicksilver, every single scene was amazing Evan Peters is awesome!!!!
does he ever tell Erik that he's his son??

Magneto though his daughter and his wife that as so cruel and then taking to the concentration camp so cruel, I do now feel so bad for him.

I dont get why Jen gets so much hate for playing mystique in this movie, she was pretty awesome, love teacher Raven

jean, scott and nightcrawler were pretty cool, love to see Storm. I didnt get Olivia's power but she was cool.

We'll see. I'd expect so though.

It's got little to do with the content of the movie if you ask me, but I liked her too.

Jean was a standout for me, but I loved seeing Cyclops finally get his due. More of those two, please.

Psylocke's a telepath, but they don't really get into that. Those lightsaber blades she swings around though, are psi-blades. Focused psionic energy. They don't just cut, they disrupt neural activity.

Yeah, and then she turned it into a whip which didn't cut Beast. I wasn't sure what the rules were for her power.

I should have said they 'can' disrupt neural activity. They can also just have a physical effect, which is all we get in Apocalypse. It would have been too much to explain Psylocke's psychic abilities, especially with them being quite different to what we've seen before.

It is hinted at though. When Mystique tells Caliban to ask his psychics what'll happen if he keeps pushing her, it's Psylocke who responds.

So I saw it twice already. Once in 3D and the other in 2D. I just gotta say. the critics are so high off their asses! The Quicksilver scene was great.

And Jen was on point. So I didn't see her as "bored" Or "going through the motions"

So i'll be seeing it again. While I liked DOFP a bit more. I still loved this one too!

So

I wonder if they will ever go into the thing of Mystique being Nightcrawlers mom.

I don't know that that can be introduced organically enough to not feel silly, but if they figure a way, and Jen's still on board, then they probably will.

Thanks, and how would it be silly?

Pippi, and I think the dog from the Quicksilver scene in the latest X-men film.
