Seems the budget was not $$13. But $30 million, plus another $30 million. For a total of $60 million and made $7.5 million opening weekend. And of course. All the Jen haters are out and gloating about the movies failure box office and Cinemascore wise. But glad she liked the movie. She said he wouldn't do another movie like this again though. __________________

I hate that people are gloating about the box office and going after Jen. Sadly it comes with the territory when you're one of the most sought after actresses. Wish it went differently but it didn't.
She really was fabulous in her role. And she got to work with a director that she's admired his work for so long. Regardless of their personal relationship now, that had to be a major thing for Jen professionally. Can she please work with Speilberg next?! I want It's What I Do to happen. Quote:

people really suck lately, especially the crowd that wasted their votes on the orange-faced hater-in-chief ugh. and oh yeah, the millions of internet trolls that just want to watch the world burn. get a life, you no-talent jealous keyboard clowns.
i saw mother! last night, and have quite a mix of emotions and some questions, but i very much see the symbolism of Mother Nature and the irrevocable harm we are forcing upon her, with this unchecked use of finite resources and not maintaining the balance of nature and life. there were so many dark and surreal imagery and themes, i really need to see it again in order to collect my thoughts. tbh, it wasn't horror to me, but much more a cautionary tale of where we're headed. whoever tried to sell this as traditional horror, really dropped the ball in promoting the horror genre, really it was more psychological in nature, if anything. once i see it again, and answer my questions, and see several things i missed because it was dark, i will leave a review under spoiler tags. i did love the acting and closeups of Jen, and think she did quite an award-worthy performance as Grace, and hope this film makes the people who saw it, think about what we are doing to this planet. everything is connected, no matter it's size or significance to the chain and balance of life. life is fragile, whether it is a human body or an ecosystem. think about that, trump, who believes in neither climate change nor pollution/climate agreements. smh. i think i will try to see it again, next weekend, after i have time to finish processing what i just saw... |

boxofficemojo has mother! at $7.5million domestic, and $6million overseas, with it playing in 6 countries, none of which are the three countries the premiere was shown in, England, France, and Italy. mother! may be playing in all three countries, just aren't shown on the chart yet, i don't know. so, mother! made $13.5million worldwide opening weekend, not too shabby for a film that no one knows what to make of, according to social media and the mass media news.

does a director have any control over how his film is promoted and marketed? i was wondering this, because there is no way that DA would have allowed a multiple-themed arthouse film to be marketed as a 'horror film', or any of the variations of the horror genre.

I saw this again today. So that's 3 times in 5 days. Even if I had to look away during the one scene and close my eyes till it was done. I am her guy after all and I need to support my girl. Uncle grandpa doesn't count. Always and forever. My is yours, Jen. __________________

On another note. DA has released another poster for mother! and yeah. The poster isa bit spoilerish. So I'll put it in a spoiler.
Spoiler:
I don't know how I feel about this poster. I feel it glorifies violence and a come see it cause a woman gets beat up. Sending all the wrong messages to see a movie. Same thing happen with X-Men: Apocalypse and they had the big banner of her being chocked by Apocalypse. I mean why would you make that a big selling point and plaster it on a big billboard for? Just like them saying look how ugly those reviews are. Almost as beat up as her face. Might be taking it a bit far. __________________
