So am I. Insurgent is coming out in March in 3D. 3D means a lot more money, especially overseas. Some foreign theaters only want a Hollywood film if it is 3D. MJ1 had a hard time getting into China until they converted it to 3D. And not being in IMAX (even 2D) cost them maybe $12mil in the U.S. alone.

Gary Ross and Francis Lawrence both talked in the past about how exploitative 3D would be for The Hunger Games. So this is a sellout Capital move by Lionsgate. I've noticed that all of their films this last year have flopped except MJ and Divergent. Also, while 3D conversion can be superior at times to filming with 3D cameras, that's only the film when was shot with the intention of being converted. Which MJ1 and MJ2 clearly weren't.

At least kids killing kids won't be in IMAX 3D. And there's a simple solution at least in the U.S. If you don't like 3D, watch the 2D version.

They did well to hold out at all, but I suspect the slight dip experienced by MJ1 pushed them over the edge.

Personally, I'll be looking for a 2D version in scope, as Francis intended it to be seen. Though I might sample the IMAX 3D version, just to see...

I'm not sure I want to see it in IMAX 3D. Maybe after seeing it in 2D, I will.

Not a fan of the idea of having prequels or sequels (unless Jen is in it). If Susan Collins isn't directly involved, it seem like glorified fanfic.

Agree completely. In general prequels usually are horrid. And IMO, MJ doesn't need a sequel, especially as Collins never wrote one. I really wish Jen hadn't publicly said that she would love to shoot more HG films. Putting THG in 3D is nothing compared to the idea of HG plays, HG theme parks, HG prequels starring Tatum Channing as young Haymitch, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

I mean I don't think the ending of Mockingjay sets up for a sequel. Pretty sure it ends with a nice buy. THE END. Story Over.

The prequels...I saw a fan suggest seeing Haymitch or Finnick's games, but we're not talking about the same actor then, I just don't see it working at all.

Part of the appeal was the original stories and the actors that brought it to life. Lionsgate just wants to keep their cash cow going because once THG series ends, other then Divergent which is no where near the financial success of THG, Lionsgate appears to not have the next big money maker in their line up. Shame the integrity of the series could be jeopardized, but it's all about money for businesses.
