Aurora Lane (Passengers) #7: "It's a helluva life!"
Welcome to Aurora Lane (Passengers) Spoilers&Speculation thread #7 “It has the complexity of a big movie and at the same time we really had to put time aside to put into character development. And it’s exhausting. They were on every day. It’s big emotions: it’s desperation, it’s love, it’s happiness, it’s fear, it’s anger. It was big emotions every day.” - Morten Tyldum ▮Future Titles The starship’s designers gave the ship a daily rhythm. But I miss other rhythms. There are no seasons. The sky never changes. ▮ Synopsis On a luxury interstellar spaceship bound for the Homestead II colony 120 years from Earth, two of the 5,000 souls traveling in suspended animation are mistakenly awakened 90 years too early. Alone in outer space with a giant ship as their personal playground, they begin to fall in love just as it becomes apparent that the ship is malfunctioning and endangering its entire population. |

Love the title. And thought I transplant this from one thread to here. It fits.
Yeah, I would say hotter. I mean that picture is just like COTTDAMN! Hotter than the sun itself in that pic. I mean LORD HAVE MERCY!!!!!!!!! __________________

yay, new Passengers thread for a new year! Happy New Year 2017, everyone!!!
i don't believe Jim would have woken up any other woman on that ship, or any man for that matter. he was literally at the end of his rope, and that shining angel named Aurora brought him back from the abyss. they were fated to be together, against all odds, both interstellar and human caused. i love this film!!! Passenger is projected to make $66 million in U.S./Canada by the end of today. There's an estimate of $60 million for international but that sounds like a very crude studio estimate. Anyway, only about a third of the countries have had it for a full week and there is another third getting the first release this week. And then China the week after.
It's hard to figure given the holidays but I'll estimate the U.S. total will be around $80-$95m. I think I said six months ago that anything under $100m was a flop. But at least not a bad a flop as it looked for a while there. International results are even trickier to estimate now. Could be anywhere from $100-$200m. And China's a total wild card. I think it will make at least $200 worldwide but $300m seems impossible unless China surprises. So it will lose money for Sony but not a tremdendous amount. |

How much was the advertising budget?
At least it gained during the second weekend. Could have gone the other way. |

Still such a pity Sony had to release this against SW. But again those dum-dum critic would have said whatever no matter what. __________________

That pic, I loved that moment in the movie. Glad they kept the bumping of suits in. |

but when you think about how much there's been for it, that's a lot of dough.

Big blockbusters usually spend a lot on Marketing. Sometimes they spend more money on the marketing than the actual cost of the movie.
I went again today and saw this. I went out into the pouring rain to support Jen. This is my 5th time viewing. (And certainly not my last. ) And love it more each time with every viewing. I was tearing up a good bit through out it. __________________

Passenger surprised me and held up very well on its first post-holiday day yesterday. If this wasn't a one-time blip, then I'll change my mind and say that it could just pass $100m in the U.S. Its two-week guaranteed slot in theaters is up today but luckily, there's only one new film getting a wide release in theaters this week. Although some of the smaller Oscar films will get expansions. Christmas movies and Assassin's Creed and Collateral Beauty should get dropped before Passengers to make room. The week after will be different with more new releases but it might be enough.
