Hey, Tony, what do you think of the cinemographer for Passengers, Rodrigo Prieto? Some nice films on his resume: Wolf of Wall Street, Brokeback Mountain, Argo, etc.

... and Gravity doesn't have nearly the character development, and intimacy that Passengers boasts.
It's a movie that could be made vapid and saccharine in the wrong hands, even given the quality of the screenplay, but Passengers seems to have been placed very much in the right hands, so it might manage to stand out. It's not a genre that the Academy easily seeks to reward, but given the pedigree of everyone involved, it's possible that their interest might be piqued. Chris Pratt though, could mitigate against that. Regardless of what opinion you might have of him, he is the blockbuster/comedy guy, and the Academy might ignore his latest sci-fi outing as just another in the same vein... __________________

I did not care much for Gravity to be honest. But again I didn't see it in theaters.
