Re-watching 1x04 yesterday, I really did enjoy that episode for Mrs. Hughes. She & Joe! What could've been for her if she wasn't at Downton. :sigh: The possibilities...

Why do you feel bad for her, because she didn't join Joe? She had a choice of staying or going and she chose to stay. She loves working at Downton and not even Joe can change her mind. That really speaks highly about how loyal she is to her job and to the Crawleys. :nod:

Oh of course me too. She did feel conflicted. I think at one point she wanted to join him but she said so herself, she's not that farm girl anymore. :sigh:

True. Whatever she experienced or is experiencing in Downton is enough to make her stay. I certainly can't imagine Downton without Mrs. Hughes. :nod:
