Robert Crawley

Robert Crawley, the 5th Earl of Grantham,[1] also known as Lord Grantham, is the patriarch of Downton Abbey, the son of the late 4th Earl of Grantham and Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, the brother of Lady Rosamund Painswick nee Crawley, the husband of Cora Crawley née Levinson, Countess of Grantham, the son-in-law of the late Isidore and Martha Levinson, the brother-in-law of the late Marmaduke Painswick, the father of Lady Mary Crawley, Lady Edith Crawley, and the late Lady Sybil Branson née Crawley, father-in-law of Tom Branson and the late Matthew Crawley, and he is the grandfather of Sybil Branson and George Crawley.
Hugh Bonneville

Hugh Richard Bonneville Williams (born 10 November 1963), known professionally as Hugh Bonneville, is an English stage, film, television and radio actor. He is most well known for starring in the ITV hit television series Downton Abbey (beginning in 2010) and the BBC London Olympics mockumentary comedy series Twenty Twelve. He also starred as Bernie in Notting Hill. From 2011 Bonneville is the narrator of the Channel 4 show The Hotel for all current 3 series. In 2013, he made a brief appearance as the Duke of Milan for the opening episode of Da Vinci's Demons.

Bonneville's first professional stage appearance was at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park. In 1987 he joined the National Theatre where he appeared in several plays, then the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1991, where he played Laertes to Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet (1992–1993). He was also Valentine in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Bergetto in 'Tis Pity She's a Whore, Kastril and later Surly in The Alchemist.

He made his television debut in 1991, billed as Richard Bonneville. His early roles were usually good-natured bumbling characters like Bernie in Notting Hill (1999) and Mr. Rushworth in Mansfield Park (1999). In the BBC television series, Take A Girl Like You (2000) and Armadillo (2001), he played more villainous characters, leading up to the domineering Henleigh Grandcourt in Daniel Deronda (2002) and the psychopathic killer James Lampton in The Commander (2003) series. In Love Again, he played the poet Philip Larkin.

In 2004, he played Sir Christopher Wren in the docudrama Wren – The Man Who Built Britain. In Iris (2001), he played the young John Bayley opposite Kate Winslet, with his performance lauded by critics and receiving a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

In early 2010, he earned a role in the comedy film Burke and Hare.[7] In 2011 and 2012 he starred as Ian Fletcher in the award-winning BBC comedy series Twenty Twelve. In December 2012 he appeared on BBC 2 with co-star Jessica Hynes in World's Most Dangerous Roads, travelling through Georgia. He is appearing in the 2012 series of the popular ITV period drama Downton Abbey, as Robert, Earl of Grantham. He is also slated to appear in the much-delayed Hippie Hippie Shake, alongside Cillian Murphy and Sienna Miller.

He's smoking cigars as Robert so I assumed he is.

I can't remember if this was posted so apologies if it has been.

Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville and actress Olivia Colman have been tipped for success at the upcoming British Comedy Awards after picking up top nominations.

Tyrannosaur star Colman has been named twice in the Best TV Comedy Actress category for her roles in religious sitcom Rev and Olympic satire Twenty Twelve, while Jessica Hynes, her co-star in the latter, and Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) are also up for the honour.

Bonneville is in the running for the Best TV Comedy Actor prize for his role in Twenty Twelve, but he faces tough competition - he goes up against Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It), Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of My Life) and Tom Hollander (Rev).

The winners will be announced during a prizegiving on 12 December (12).

True. Maybe he smokes but only occasionally?

I'm not sure who's confirmed for Anderson Live which is the same day as the British Comedy Awards and there is also no confirmation that Hugh will attend that. Will post news about this soon.

One of the BBC's many festive treats this Christmas boasts an all-star cast of Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville, David Walliams, Sheridan Smith, Johnny Vegas and a cross-dressing Pudsey the Dog displaying his BGT-winning skills. The plot follows 12-year-old Chloe who lives a lonely life with her politically-ambitious mother (Smith) and hapless father (Vegas) and goodie-two-shoes sister. That is until she meets Mr Stink (Bonneville) a tramp who emits a pungent odour that scares everyone but Chloe who befriends him...

Mr Stink is adapted from a book of the same name by funny man David Walliams, who also stars as the British Prime Minister.

My favorite part was when he answered the questions about Honey Boo Boo.

Yes, he did great! But I also loved how the host described Downton, and that he thought it was soapy but he really can't stop watching

Quote:
They'd say, well, you know, it's all about the love affairs, and the clothes and the intrigue of who's in love with whom. I'm like, oh, that's a soap opera. Great, I'm not interested. And then I started watching it, and it is absolutely great. And it has made me into an idiot.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: I used to care about important things, and now I'm like, oh dear, will Lady Mary accept Mr. Crowley's proposal? I don't know.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: I can't stop. Can you explain why this show is so compelling?
Oh and this one was also hilarious

Quote:
SAGAL: Do you ever, like, wonder? I mean, do you ever go to Julian Fellowes, the writer, and go, look, so you're telling me these incredibly wealthy, powerful people sit around the house all day, amusing themselves with walks and perhaps a horse ride if they're feeling really active, and then they just wait for someone to ring a gong, where they put on formal clothes.

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: And are fed dinner and then they all go to bed and don't have sex. Are you telling me that's...

(LAUGHTER)

SAGAL: That's how these people live?
