Hi, I've read the posts on this forum for a while and now I've decided to join :-)

How I started watching DA: I had heard about the series before in connection with Maggie Smith, and this summer I found the DVD in the library. Now I've watched all the series, some even twice, in German and English, and spent days just thinking about the storylines :-)

There are so many threads on DA, but this comment brings up the subject of the Christmas episode in season 3...and we all know what happened on THAT one (thank goodness someone told me what was going to happen so I was prepared!)

Saying all that, what did our British posters think of that episode, since it aired on Christmas evening? I can't imagine watching something that devastating on Christmas, it seems almost cruel to inflict that on DA viewers.

I read headlines of articles published soon afterwards about how Fellowes ruined their Christmas, so I imagine most people were quite upset by it.

I'm not British but I saw the S3 CS ep a day after Christmas. It was a downer and it took me a few days until it finally sunk in. So my anger was delayed. And it went on for a loooong time.

What made you decide to watch DA?: I was watching Iron Man 3 and then, suddenly, a scene of a period drama appears! xD I just love everything between 1850-1930, so I fell in love with that piece of scene, but not for a long time. Few months later I met a girl who was a big DA fan and she told me more about the series, but I was in a such big "Doctor Who phase" that I forgot to search more about Downton. Just this year, on a boring Sunday that I decided to check it out this "Downton thing". And the end of the story everybody knows: it became my favorite tv show.

P.S.: English is my second language so please, forgive me if I make any mistake. xD
