I wasn't expecting that many nominations tbh as this is the show's 4th season. Otherwise still happy the show got that many.

It's great that Downton is getting all this recognition. Downton is such a "pure" show for lack of a better word. There's no violence, car chases or special effects. The focus is on the story and the characters. It's about authenticity and quality. It's nice to see a show like Downton be rewarded!

How old is this thread? "It is the outstanding Miniseries you should be watching". Miniseries? Did Downton start out as just a miniseries? If so, it's definitely outlived that description. Five seasons and counting...

This thread is 2 years old (since the board opened). The show started out at the Miniseries category at the Emmys and I think it only moved to the Drama category 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not sure why because technically it is a series but I guess the Emmys are changing it up.

Congrats to the award winners! We the fans always focus on the happenings that go on in front of the camera. So much of what makes Downton great happens behind the scenes. It's great that these dedicated and talented folks are being recognized for their great work!
