(Scene begins with Gwen, William, Daisy, and Thomas strolling along the fair grounds.)

Thomas: An evening of mystery. Mrs. Hughes out on the tails, all dolled up like a dog's dinner, then Mr. Crawley hurries into the library followed by his Lordship."

Gwen: What are you suggesting?

Thomas: There are more things in heaven than earth, Horatio.

William: Who's Horatio?

(Thomas sighs, stamps out his cigarette, and takes Daisy's hand)

Thomas: Come on, Daisy.

(They run together towards a ride and climb the stairs to the top. William looks sad)

Gwen: Cheer up. It may never happen.

William: It already has. Who is Horatio?

It's hardly impossible that Thomas, a gay man in a time that was very dangerous for homosexuals, would have been willing to try to "convert" himself. It's quite possible that he took advantage of Daisy's willingness to "do anything for" him. And if having sex with Daisy also tortured William, then he would have just been killing two birds with one stone.

All I ever got from that exchange is:

Thomas is being Thomas and knows that William likes Daisy thus the comment as he was trying to spite William. Gwen knows Williams like Daisy too so she made that comment. The "it" may never happen is Daisy/Thomas together because Gwen knows Thomas is gay. Everyone knows Thomas is gay except for William & Daisy.

William didn't know that Thomas was gay? I always thought Daisy was the only one who didn't know. I thought that was part of the reason why William was so crushed by Daisy's pursuit of Thomas, because he knew Thomas was only doing it to torment him, but he couldn't tell Daisy that because a) she wouldn't understand and b) Thomas could be put to death.

Yes, I think Kate is a fan. I did hear that she watches the show and it must be an entertaining experience for her. I mean, they wouldn't have organized this event if she didn't want to go and meet the cast.
