I don't know if that means Emma will never suspect him, and he will turn out to be the one in the end, or Emma will suspect him in book four and then clear him... But he is setup for it. Think... several mentions of cigarettes and smoking. the hot stub outside Sutton's party and Ethan coming out of the bushes to rescue her. The smell of cigarettes in his car, but she thinks he doesnt smoke. and wasn't there some mention of her being spied on and a cigarette in the bushes? OK sometimes, when Emma was with Ethan, it must have been Laurel, Nisha, or Thayer spying on them. But Ethan does hang around alot at night. Another thing, we've never seen his parents, he is alone at home all the time, and he eats a lot of take out food. His mom was sick in another town, I think maybe she died. Maybe something happened because of the prank? Remember the time Emma came over and Ethan had Sutton's web page up on his computer? He said he was thinking of leaving Emma a message, but - makes no sense. what if he was logged in as Sutton - he is the one who hacked into her facebook account? Ethan is also the one who told Emma about the rumor that Sutton had hit someone with her car. No one knows about that except Thayer. He might have had something in for Thayer and was following them that night, He had something against Sutton. Even after the prank, he rescued her from the murder prank, and she didn't say thank you. I think Ethan is just keeping close to Emma to keep track of her. Maybe I'm totally wrong, but there are so many clues, and not one single suspicion.
