The future of this board - PLEASE READ & RESPOND
 

Hey guys :wave:

As you will all know by now, Alcatraz has been cancelled by FOX after only one season. Unfortunately, this means that the amount of material we can discuss is limited to the 13 episodes that have already aired.

I've been thinking of closing this board voluntarily so that it goes out on our terms and not bounded by the post count requirement.

What do you guys think? I'd be glad to consider new ideas too.

You know my opinion, we talked about it. And I'm definitely with you on this as much as it makes me sad to admit it. :nod:

It's just like you said, we've got only material from 13 episodes, how long can they be discussed? Where's the fun in it?!
We've worked so hard to keep this board rolling and God knows we did good so far.

It's not a matter of achieving the average post count, we can, it's just the matter that it doesn't make any sense to continue with the board while the show is over! We only had one season with 13 eps! It's not like past shows with at least 4-5 season material to discuss.

Furthermore we don't have the posters here, it's basically me and Dimple. And I really can't blame the posters for not coming back, since they don't want to spend their time and energy for discussing a show that has been over now!


Nevertheless I am grateful to have been part on this board, which is practically my first baby on :ff: since I was here from the beginning.
I met so damn great people on this board like; Flave, Nikki, Mel, Holly, Melissa and our mod Dimple! :group_hug:
It was a pleasure ladies! :flowers:

I will truly miss this board and the show, but it's the right decision! We can make room for other new forums and maybe spending our posting-energy on them. ;)


Last but not least thanks to the Alcatraz team for giving us such a great show and special thanks to our beloved Doc Jorge Garcia!

As sad as it is for me to admit, you're right. :nod: We can't keep this board rolling for much longer if nobody else posts. I mean, we're in the safe zone for now, but who knows how long that'll last? :sigh:

While I don't post on this board (nor have I, you know, watched the show...), I think moderators are a bit too quick in closing their boards voluntarily these days. You can keep a board running even if there's no new content. Case in point? Young Americans. There's still a board for that on :ff: after 12 years, and its initial run was no longer than Alcatraz'.

Why not let it go a couple of months and see then?

I know, but me and Amorith are the only 2 posters here, everyone else has gone. :( The YA board surely has more than 2 posters? :sigh:

I don't want the board to end up on the Low Post Count Warning List and if Amorith doesn't post here then it will. :no:

I don`t want to see the board go and am willing to help keep it around, especially since we`re near the 10K milestone.

Aww. :blush: :hug: It'd be great to have more regular posters, with just me and Amorith, it's kinda hard to keep conversation going. :(

Not much more then that ;) Depends on the thread. Lots of board's only have the mod's talking to each other, with one or 2 poster's coming in occasionally if they are lucky. I know that from experience with my board's, we go through spurts where that happens. Just have to deal with it IMO :) Each board is different though. I know what it is like to mod a board where there is nothing new to talk about, we were just talking about it at Went. ;)

Obviously can't judge or say anything regarding this board because I don't post here, might watch this summer if i get time, although part of me doesn't want to because of the bad ending I heard about :lol:

I just don't want a situation whereby the board ends up on the LPCWL for not getting enough posts. Plus, Amorith is busy with RL so she can't guarantee being able to post here everyday. I don't even have another mod to talk to. :rotfl:

I´m also sorry about the cancellation because I just got into the series and hoped to see more of it and the awesome actors and mysteries and I understand that it is hard to maintain this board with only 2 posters or so ... but if you really want to keep the board (and especially with the 10k milestone right around the corner) then I will help you as much as I can. It is only 13 episodes and only so much things we can discuss but I could see us holding this board for longer.

But it´s your decision and I will support you in this my love :hug:

I want to keep this board because it's been like my second home on :ff: However, with only me and Amorith posting, it's kinda hard. :( We can try and get to 10k first and then see what we can do. ;)
