But it is logical to do one now ... there needs to be some time spent when Bonnie and Damon come back because if it is the next day the come back the impact wouldn't be that big.

They don't need a time jump cause it would be pointless to bring them back to start off the season.

Yeah but if they don't do one then they will have to be back at least by episode 6 or something and maybe only a month would have passed because the TVD timeline is so slow.

Well, they need to come back sometime in the first half of the season. They're not going to keep Damon away from the other leads for long.

^I agree. As much as we hate it, the show is about the triangle. Even Stefan in S3 wasn't away from the trio for more than two episodes.
