I believe Emmett means "strong". He definitely has a strong character with conviction.

About the name.. The first two or three episodes I had to think all the time of Kellan Lutz's charakter.. and was like.. he's too small and stuff for that name.. I know.. such a rubbish.. now I think it fits him perfectly..
