Well, this episode is supposed to be the BIG one for Ryan Lane. After it was filmed, Lucas Grabeel posted a message on Ryan Lane's Instagram account saying that Travis had become his favorite character in the entire series. Also, the woman who plays Travis's mother sang Ryan Lane's praises in comments on social media.

Many of the crew, as well, claimed that Ryan Lane's acting is the best they have ever seen from any actor anywhere. All of these comments were posted on social media accounts, immediately following the filming of this episode.

So I am expecting really big things from Ryan Lane and Travis tonight. This episode is poised to be the one to change my opinion of the character and the actor.

So I guess all that is left to say is "Take it away, Ryan. Show us what you've got."

I am expecting good things based on the sheer number of comments that were posted immediately following the filming of tonight's episode.

No faith in Lizzy Weiss. I am glad this show is ending. Never again will I watch a show of hers. So I thank you for wasting my time Mrs. Weiss

Did anyone besides me watch the episode tonight?

Even Lizzy Weiss tweeted that she was not watching it live. I guess everyone has pretty much given up. Switched at Birth is just not the same show that it used to be.

I didn't hate tonight's episode, so there's that.

The writing in and of itself was good. Ryan Lane's acting was good. It was a touching story. For me, it just is not the story that I wanted to see. I was not invested in tonight's story. I don't care about it. I have been jerked around too much by the writers to be able to care.

Regina and Eric? I always liked him as a character, but I don't care one iota about their relationship or about her relationship with Luca either.

A little over a year ago, I remember that a contributing editor to a political magazine tweeted Lizzy Weiss and asked why Daphne had to confess her kiss with Quinn to Mingo. He tweeted that nothing good ever comes of confessions like that. At first, his tweet seemed to go over Lizzy Weiss's head. She defended Daphne's morals for telling Mingo the truth and doing the right thing. Then, he tweeted again to explain himself, and Lizzy Weiss got it. She relented and said that Daphne told Mingo because she is young and didn't understand that sometimes the greater truth is revealed by keeping a secret.

Although it appears that Toby's fine wisdom is responsible, I get the feeling that series of tweets is how Regina truly came to decide it is okay to not tell Luca the truth. I wish that I cared.

The episode was well written as an entity unto itself, but the story arc for this season and for the series overall feels horribly off to me. I know that these are characters I have loved, and I am trying to muster some feeling for them as we approach the end, and I cannot.

Even seeing Emmett in the previews for the finale did not make me feel anything for his character, and I have always adored him. It is just that the writers are killing any feeling I have for any of the characters with the way they are allowing their story to unfold.

I thought John's scenes with Travis were nice. I like the character of Chris, but I do not know him well enough to care about him. I want to love Bay and Daphne's friendship, and instead, I cannot stand it.

Tonight, the writers had Bay's character insinuate that her relationship with Regina is strong, but we have not seen any evidence of that. The writers tell us a whole lot on this TV series, but they show us VERY LITTLE.

And of the things that the writers tell us, through their characters, they contradict themselves by having these same characters deliver lines with an opposing message in the very next episode.

I don't care what happens between Bay and Travis or to Bay and Travis. The writers have given us some sweet scenes between them in the last couple of episodes. They share a mature and healthy love. That's great, but there is nothing offered that makes them compelling to watch. I am glad that Bay could be there to help Travis through this difficult time in his life. I am glad that she has learned how to not reveal her boyfriend's secrets to his parent. I am glad that Travis's mother liked Bay's artichoke dip.

It's great to see all of the characters make strides towards growing up. But as for the story, the relationships that I care about have been neglected and abused with no chance for redemption now. I am disappointed in that.

Emmett is key to me. His relationship to Bay, Daphne, Toby, Regina, Kathryn, and John matters to me.

Bay's relationship with both Daphne and Regina feels horribly false, and I need it to feel right. Daphne has barely interacted with Toby, Kathryn, John, or Emmett this season. Why?

I want a message about family, and everything feels so false.

I want to care if Travis chooses baseball or Bay, and I don't.

At the end of Season 4, on her self-portrait, Bay put the words "forever brokenhearted over him." Well, I guess for Bay, forever lasts about all of two months, because she sure worked through her heartache over Emmett mighty quickly and moved on with Travis.

And oddly enough, I don't get the feeling if Travis moves on with his baseball career and leaves Bay that she'll be all that upset about it.

Everyone is so healthy and mature now.

She may put Bay & Emmett back together if Travis goes off to Japan to play baseball, but MAN, will that be unsatisfying if she does. What a slap in the face to Bemmett fans, if Lizzy Weiss does it like that.

And if she has Bay choose to be single, then that's going to feel like a cop out, too.

What a disappointing end to a TV series that I once loved....

It's too bad this forum is so anti-Travis, but I'm glad to see positive responses to the episode elsewhere.

I thought it was long past time the show addressed his anger issues and his sexual assault, but at least when they finally did it, they hit a home run. The acting and the writing were far above anything the season has delivered so far. But sadly, the quality of the episode seems to have been overshadowed because it's the second to last one ever, in a season that has generally disappointed a lot of viewers.

Anyway, kudos to Ryan Lane, Vanessa Marano, DW Moffett, and Suanne Spoke for bringing their A-game, and to the writers and directors for doing this story and this issue justice. I never cry at this show because it's usually too over the top, but this episode broke me.

I actually didn't even mind the Daphne and Regina parts either. Daphne handled things better than I thought she would, meaning she managed to not blow up Chris's life or anyone else's. I would have been extremely annoyed if she'd pulled a typical Daphne maneuver and ended up ruining her medical career, especially after the show took care to remind us how much Bay sacrificed to make that happen.

And Regina, well, whatever. I never do have much to say about her, but I didn't want to fast forward her scenes for once. Although I definitely raised my eyebrows when Bay was all, "Look how great our relationship is now!"

Here's hoping Bay decides her next big adventure should be in Tokyo!

I'd go for Bay in Tokyo. Out of every scenario I can imagine for Bay next week, that one is number one on my list.

Maybe I have a missing sensitivity chip, because while I could tell that the writing and the acting were both good tonight, nothing moved me. The storyline felt calculated rather than sincere to me. Vanessa Marano's acting was the weakest tonight. I saw Vanessa more than I saw Bay, and that's usually not the case.

Ryan Lane and Suanne Spoke both embodied their characters well, though. DW Moffett is always great, and tonight was no different.

I don't understand why the scenes regarding Travis's abuse didn't move me. Maybe the fault is in me.

I have to agree with you about Vanessa. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but the whole episode, I wondered why I kept noticing her hair and makeup and clothes, instead of feeling with her character. There was just something off tonight, and usually, I think she is the strongest of the cast.

Ryan Lane and Suanne Spoke did really well. I also liked the direction, or camerawork, or both - I don't really know enough about film to know who should get the credit, but I liked how at the dinner, the camera kept focusing on the uncle's tie, his wine glass... it's the way we all fixate on little things during emotionally charged moments.

The Travis part of the episode, including the scenes with John Kennish, rang true to me, and I actually cried. I think it's important to finally address all that stuff in Travis's past, so I'm glad the show did it, and did it well.

Well to me I felt that the Travis Storyline was just misplaced it should of happened Sooner even before he moved in with Melody and Emmett

It was misplaced, and what you describe should have been the way it happened.

The problem is that Travis now fills a role that Emmett filled in Seasons 1 and 2 of Switched at Birth. Emmett was the character who was alienated from his mother Melody and having difficulty operating in the hearing world. Emmett was the character with whom everyone empathized, up until the showrunner shunned him.

Now, Travis has been sandwiched into a role that he was never meant to fill on the show. It feels disjointed, because it is.

The show is less than it should be because of it.

I'm sorry I'm so late on this, but I just got to watch this episode today. I haven't read all the posts before mine yet, so I'm just going out on my own here.

I actually cried during the scene where Travis and Bay told his mom about him being molested. I thought it was very well acted. I also thought the dinner scene was very well done. I could feel Travis and Bay's discomfort. I was uncomfortable watching it, so it felt real to me.

I found it interesting that Bay had to remind Daphne what she did to save Daphne's future in medicine. Granted, Daphne and Chris do not have the same type relationship, but I enjoyed that particular moment.

If Travis leaves and Bay stays and they get Bay and Emmett back together, there is going to be some serious eye rolling from me. If Bay and Emmett get back together, it should be because they choose each other, not because Travis left town. In my opinion, it's too late to be believable at this point, but at the same time I feel deeply sorry for the Bemmett shippers who have been waiting for a reunion and either aren't getting one or are getting something very rushed.

I may be alone, but I think Regina and Eric have incredible chemistry. I know he was asking too much from her, but man...

Both scenes were honest, well-written, and well-acted. I don't find Ryan Lane a compelling actor, but he was at his best here.

Vanessa Marano was not as strong as she usually is, but she did okay. Maybe the subject matter was too deep for her to go, too.

I didn't cry, but I thought those scenes had depth and heart.

I wish Bay and Travis had more chemistry. I could root for them, if I saw it, but I don't.

Travis has a lot to work through anyway. I am not sure if he should be in a relationship right now with anyone.

That's true!

I thought it was interesting that Chris had to remind Daphne of why she did what she did:
CHRIS: I have to take the test again? Why?

DAPHNE: Your test was compromised. They need you back in on Monday morning.

CHRIS: By compromised you mean

DAPHNE: I dropped it, accidentally.

CHRIS: But what about the cleanse? I mean, everything we did? - I thought -

DAPHNE: They have a test for that too. You would've been flagged. I couldn't let that happen to you.

CHRIS: And Monday will be seven days since I stopped. I'll test clean! Thank you! Thank you!

DAPHNE: Whoa, whoa. That's not why I did this. Do you have any idea how I feel right now, how hard that was for me to do?

CHRIS: Yeah, I do, - and I really, really appreciate it. -

DAPHNE: Do you? Because I don't feel very good about myself right now. I cheated in a hospital. I want to be a doctor, that's my dream, and right now, I don't feel like I deserve to be one.

CHRIS: Hey. Hey, you helped somebody who desperately needed it, even though it could have cost you everything. That kind of doctor That's the kind of doctor I want. (whispers) Thank you.

DAPHNE: Just make sure you end up being the guy your Aunt Mae sees when she looks at you.

CHRIS: I promise I will.
So NOW Daphne is worried about cheating?

It didn't bother Daphne when her cheating destroyed Bay & Emmett's plans, so she could get off the hook. Daphne has no problem with stealing a controlled substance from Dr. J. and the free clinic where she was serving the community for blackmailing a State Senator.

Daphne has no problem using cocaine or throwing a couch off of a dormitory roof. She has no problem vandalizing a construction site causing HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars worth of damages.

Daphne has no problem signing a false statement or committing perjury to allow Bay to take the fall for her and Nacho's crimes, in order to escape a few months in jail.

But Daphne knocks over a vial of pee, and suddenly, her conscience kicks in? Suddenly, Daphne feels deep remorse?

Give me a break!

I think Daphne no longer WANTS to be a doctor, and she is looking for any excuse to get out of it that she can possibly find. Dropping a vial of pee in order to help someone she ALREADY hurt seems like just the sort of thing that Daphne could use as an excuse to quit her pursuit of a career in medicine.

I agree that Regina and Eric have chemistry, but I see her staying with Luca this time. I guess we'll find out in a little over 24 hours!

As for Bay & Emmett, I finally feel that their reunion will be beautiful tomorrow night. I don't think it will be rushed. I think it will feel like something both of them DO choose.

I guess we'll see what happens with that relationship, too!

Just 27 hours more to go!
