After seeing this gifset, Rumple is more like Luke than Vader.

Am I still hanging on to the ends of yesterday in me
When I was crying for my fears, bitter tears
But you made me see we’re crazy running
Crazy running like we’re running out of time

Uh...I was doing a little stroll through random Pinterest pins and saw this:

Cute for a kid's room, right?

Until you imagine Malcolm saying it to Rumple. KUH-REEPY.

Man I wish they'd used this line on the show.

I just realized why Malcolm.

Not why he did anything. Just why Malcolm exists in the plot.

Look, you know all the complaints about Peter Pan, the iconic child who won't grow up, being Malcolm, the not-so-iconic bad dad? How Peter really being an adult changed an essential part of his character?

I just realized why they had to have Peter be an adult--and they had to (or they had to once they made him a truly evil character who would have to be killed to be stopped).

This is a Disney owned show aimed at a family demographic. Even if they get darker, they can't kill kids. The only Lost Boy they killed off was the extremely creepy, battle-scarred Felix, the guy who looked about as close to adult as a Lost Boy could and not be one. As it was, he could only be killed by the extremely evil Peter.

I'm not saying he doesn't fit pretty well with the background established on Rumple and that he isn't the kind of father they always had in mind for him. But, to kill off Peter and for it to be OK, they had to have him turn into an adult--not just look like an adult, but really be one.

I don't disagree with your conclusion (and they did kill another lost boy offscreen, plus pull out that other kid's heart), but I think that Peter had to be an adult for a more important reason.

Barrie, I believe, wrote that Peter represented the freedom and cruelty of childhood--and one of the freedoms of childhood is the ability to BE cruel, to honestly not know better. For Pan to be a real villain, he had to know better; he had to be choosing cruelty rather than being merely amoral or ignorant.

I'm wondering what the repercussion if any there will be from Rumple killing his dad. If Malcolm will somehow "haunt" and torment his son as he always had. Worst parent in the world IMO

Rumple did die when killing his father, so maybe that was the reprecussion. I hope he doesn't face anything else - there are several things Rumple has done I would like to see him challenged on and face the consequences of, but killing his father saved so many lives and allowed Rumple to properly confront him, so I'd rather see him not haunted by that in any way.

I agree. But his father and his actions have haunted Rumple for centuries. I don't see him easily letting that go. Especially since when he wanted to talk to his father he was just mocked and called a worm by him.

Rumple seemed more like his father when he killed Zelena than himself

Rumple becoming more like his father after his father is dead would be a rather depressing development - but yeah, it's not impossible. Sometimes people can become the very things they hate, unfortunately.

I dont want tihs, but I could see that happening, especially if both were absorbed by the dagger and sent to the vault fo the Dark One.

He came back more like his dad..
