Since I can't have the OQ I wanted, can I please have this as a spin off?

ETA: Several rants and a full 24 hours later and I finally no longer feel like I want to either scream or cry. This is progress.

Lol, this was another writing trend that used to get on my nerves: not addressing what needed to be resolved onscreen. The viewers being left to assume or fill in the blanks for themselves.

I personally just don't find any consistency or connection between a s6 Wish Realm and Page 23. One already existed before the other.

I am saddened to find out that OQ canon is essentially retconned (ie. Tink leading Young Regina to her soulmate), the real Robin remains obliterated, and Regina's redemptive arc has been stripped by making the EQ a separate individual rather than the part of Regina that symbolized the darkness she became and then overcame. The personal struggle and all the loss seems for naught.

Plus, I just don't see what they will do with Regina now. She's essentially like a blank canvas who will probably just serve as a supporting character.

Regina's story is over. I just hope Lana will move on like Sean did.

I have to agree. OQ is clearly dismantled and completely over. Regina has no other story foundation except to share scenes with either Henry or the rest of the Charmings. Which says very little since it doesn't sound like even the Charming family|Snowing has much material to work with, lol.

Well, at least I must say they caught the RH/EQ dynamic from season 3 right (the one in FB). Wish Robin was in true sass form with the EQ, and the chemistry was off the charts.

It made me both happy and sad at the same time, because I kept thinking why they took this away from us.

This is also a huge problem, IMO. Apparently, the idea is that "she doesn't need a romantic partner", which would be perfectly ok, if she had a job and a lifeof her own, but that's not the case here. She has one son, who will grow old and leave her, as sons do. And after Henry leaves, what then? And why exactly she *has* to be the one to show the world women *can be alone if they choose to* when she actually never made that choice to begin with? Regina didn't choose to be alone, because she "doesn't need a partner to be happy". Fate made that choice for her, by killing every single person she fell in love with.

By the end of the day, the message we are getting is: "Don't fall in love and fight for it to work if fate is telling you are meant to be alone forever. If you do, you will only have heartbreak. So, close yourself and don't take risks. Love is not worth the inevitable heartbreak." I mean, after what happened, everyone would choose to be alone, right? If whenever you fall in love the person you fall in love with dies, it's best to be alone then to give someone a death sentence.

Yeah, I'm basically not a fan of the 'independent woman" trope for Regina for that very reason. Regina's foundation to her arc was love loss - I get that after going dark it was important to learn to love herself again, but she never started out hating herself. Regina didn't become|transform into the EQ because of self-hatred; her grief quite literally consumed her. She had a VERY chaotic relationship with a controlling mother who abused magic and sought to use her own daughter to obtain power. That is why the loss of Daniel followed by the culmination of OQ, a second chance at love, actually made the most sense in all this. Robin, too, was getting that second chance after the loss of Marian. The balance of their two backstories would have complimented their relationship and each other but apparently 'making sense' is not what the writing had in mind.

Instead, I guess we ended with THIS.

And, no, I don't expect them to explore yet another romantic love for Regina. Even if they luck out with a s7.

I thought this AU OQ fanvid was very good, very well put together, bittersweet at the end, but great choice for their daughter: She can really pass for looking like Regina.

I'm glad some version of them got a happy ending. I wish they had shown a happy ending for the original Robin. Maybe him smiling down on Regina from heaven or something like that. It would have been nice if they made it canon that Hades was lying about the soul obliteration. I know a scene like that would have meant a lot to me.
