They really made a point of showing how alike these two are in ASOTM. When Hook told Bae the story of his father, it was just like the part of Manhattan that got cut (and we never got to see). Apparently in that episode they filmed young Rumple being abandoned by his father. It's the reason he was so determined not to leave his son fatherless.

Two things they have in common with each other that I hope they talk about on the ship:

1) They were both abandoned by their fathers when they young.

2) They both care about Baelfire and screwed up their relationship with him.

I'm also hoping that Gold says that he regrets killing Milah and Hook apologizes for hurting Belle.
