I've loved the evolution, the sweet ceremony for Belle and Gold and now it's over...

Emma and Killian are sweet but I'm all about "Snowing".

Regina and Robin were very cute too!

Thread bump.

I'm rewatching Season 1, and I realized something that is bugging me: there was no logical reason to pair Emma's fight to remain Sherrif with the flashback story of Rumple becoming the Dark One, and it's weird that they did.

Anybody got an explanation for this?

I don't know without rewatching the episode, but isn't that the one where Rumple tells Emma he can recognise a desperate soul? I love the foreshadowing on this show!

Yes.

I like both stories from that episode, but they're completely disconnected, which makes them a puzzling outlier from everything else that the series did.

While I've generally been positive thus far in my rewatch, I've now hit a point in the story where what flaws there are in the writing of Season 1 'all come out in the wash' with Episode 1x18, The Stable Boy.

The biggest flaws with the story of that episode are the fact that the level of Regina's hatred is irrational to the point of being farcical and the fact that the actress that was cast as young Snow is far too young to have believably grown up into Ginny Goodwin, especially in comparison to Lana Parilla.

Barbara Hershey's motivations as Cora also make less sense given what we know about her from future episodes, which also hurts the story.

The Stable Boy is the nadir of Season 1 and was almost the nadir of the entire series.

Thread bump/double post.

I'm now into Season 2 and am also concurrently watching Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, which is a lot better than I think it gets credit for. It's also kind of fun to rewatch OUaTiW knowing that characters/events from it end up being revisited/referenced on the original OUaT because I'll be able to track those references/character appearances in real time as I watch/rewatch the original show through in sequence.

In case anybody might be wondering, I'm watching OUaTiW concurrently with OUaT Season 2 because that's when it's set chronologically in-universe even though it aired concurrently with OUaT Season 3.
