If Regina weren't split she could relate to Zelena and accept her.

The Evil Queen having trouble accepting the wicked witch. She'd be a real hypocrite if she couldn't give her another chance, like everyone already gave her.

The difference is that Regina admits that she did terrible things to many people, things that she can never make up for. She keeps trying to be a better person, and sometimes she makes mistakes, but she keeps on trying, even while believing that she'll never truly be happy.
Zelena isn't at that point yet. She reminds me of where Regina was in season 2 where there was a part of her that wanted to be better, but she kept slipping up. I think Zelena could get there just as Regina did, but that takes time that I'm not sure this show has left. But if Zelena gets to a point where she admits that what she did to Robin and Regina was terrible, even if she doesn't regret getting her daughter from it, if she owns that it was a terrible thing to do and feels guilt for the pain she caused, then Regina should forgive her. If she refuses to forgive her at that point, then yes, she is being a hypocrite. Also I agree that the split makes it difficult for Regina to relate to Zelena. The EQ is the side of her that understands Zelena's pain. I'm not saying it would fix everything, I think there will always be issues with them, but at the end of season 5 things were getting better between them. That all changed after the split. |

So with the EQ gone, what does this mean for Regina and Zelena?

Maybe they'll be more willing to work together again.

I'm not sure if they'll ever be really close, but I think things are slowly improving between them.

If they're going to have a close relationship, then I do think some change will be needed, but they could find a way to be cordial only if that's what they both want. I guess it depends what they both want.

I'm not sure what Zelena wants. At the end of season 5, it seemed like she had started toward wanting to be a better person, but then she regressed when the EQ showed up. Then it seemed like she didn't really want to change, but she wanted to feel accepted by someone, and the EQ temporarily allowed her to feel accepted by someone without the pressure to better herself. Of course then then EQ tried to kill her, so there's that.
Zelena has been offscreen so much this season that I've come to feel like where she's at is that she isn't actively trying to hurt anyone, she mostly just keeps to herself, but she still wouldn't think twice about hurting someone who caused trouble for her. |
