I think we'll get to see a bit of Emma's life before Storybrooke. I think she's lonely and she doesn't even keep in touch with whoever raised her. I believe she's tough, but lonely. That's why it will be beautiful to see her relationship with Mary developing .

It won't be easy for her. I think she will try to keep a distance for a while.

That's so true. Instant family. Though I think she'll keep her distance for a while as well. The sudden change might be too much for her to take in.

I agree, Emma will definitely keep some distance, it's all she's ever done to protect herself from everything.

I can see that. As for now at the beginning I think she will be it total disbelief. Hopefully when she learns why they didn't/couldn't keep her it will help heal wounds.
