Definitely and the torture, and also he already had previous darkness due to how he became Captain Hook so the affect the Dark One curse had on him was worse, because it touched upon that darkness he had

It was a necessary scene to show how it did that, so that later when he was doing all the bad things, the audience would understand why it affected him so badly.

Exactly, the dark one curse wields out what is your weakness and attacks that, and for Hook it hit harder and also days later as the curse was hidden from him... no wonder he looked like he was drugged up as it finally hit him
