I think ratings have to be high and stay high during the first season for some networks or they will be dropped, i.e.: Still Star crossed, although good, will probably be cancelled because of poor ratings. It also depends on the night it airs as well. ABC isn't a network quick to cancel either like other networks. CW isn't quick to cancel either. I think the 18-39 demo is also a must. If it does good there, it will survive. It doesn't explain OUAT staying for another season though because except for a few episodes, the numbers were pretty consistent and low in all demos. I guess it also depends on advertising as well.
On a lighter note, Michael Raymond James was at the Paris convention and he did panels with Robert, Robbie Kay, and Giles Matthey. He had a lot of fun and was touched to hear how much he was missed on the show! __________________

Plus they have a deal with Netflix this wasent a good year for ABC and ouat stayed consistent. Tv is a bussiness
