How complicated she is she’s layered, you know she’s not just one thing and no person is, but she’s written in a way where I get the opportunity to really explore a lot of different nuances of her personality. She’s that character in one moment can be so strong and so tough and be saving everyone. And then turn around and be so vulnerable that she’s crying and her heart is breaking. There’s something really nice about who human that is and how real that is. I feel like we talk a lot about strong women on television but I feel like its not just strong women, it’s real women. I consider myself a strong woman I’m educated, smart, together, strong, tough I also think that getting hurt and being vulnerable and also to have friends to support me and family, it’s a real balance of strength and vulnerability in life in order to be human, in order to be the best version of yourself. The way Emma is written is based on all of that and I really appreciate the writers have taken all of that into consideration and filled her with that much intensity.

Indeed! Along with "The Bear King" being the only other 'Emma-less' episode I believe?

Probably my 2 least favourite episodes! I'm sorry, one simply can not go 45mins of OUAT without a single glimpse of Emma! It's just wrong on so many different levels! It just isn't right!

I think almost all the characters have had one episode without them - just how it goes with a large ensemble cast, I guess, but it's always annoying when it's one of your favorites that's not in it at all.

Probably not no. I'm not too sure myself! (old age setting in!). Red and Mulan obviously returned in it. But none of the regular "main cast" were in it that I can remember! Although, something tells me Snow might have been in a flashback? But that's it! I'm sure someone will be able to answer more accurately than I can!

*Edit!* And whilst I was writing this in my usual ultra-slow speed, you have 2 other responses that answered much better than I could!
