I do think he cared about Tamara. He was hurt by her betrayal and he did want to believe her. I think he was happy with her it doesn't mean he was in love with her but he had feelings

The scene where they kiss in the August centric and the scene before she goes running in 2.21 so he was under the illusion that they were happy

Yeah, he had feelings but they weren't strong, can build a life on them, feelings.

I don't know, I still think he looked pretty unhappy in the season 2 premiere - even before the card from August arrrived.
