But Emma wouldn't have grown up as a princess in our world. Her background may not have been all that different from Neals.

I do think Emma would have had stability unlike Neal but they still could have met at a carnival or one of Emmas friends can dare to steal something

I agree about the stability, but her social position may not have been very different.

Who said anything about her social position? If she grew up here with one or both of her parents, chances are high that she wouldn't be a loner and/or a thief like she was when she met Neal.

IMO social position plays a part in it. If Emma had grown up in FTL she would have been a wealthy princess with loving parents, while Neal would either be a thief or the son of the DO. In our world things were different. When Snow came to our world absolutely everything would have been extremely difficult for her. She had a newborn baby, no money, no education (or papers!) that would have helped her to get a job or a place to live and she was seperated from her true love - a man she wouldn't be reunited with for the next 28 years, while she was aging and he wasn't. Snow is a strong person but that's alot to take for everyone. The only talent that would have helped her to survive in our world is the same talent that helped Neal to survive. IMO she would have been a thief too. At least at the beginning. It's impossible to know how things would have progressed from there, but I don't think it's impossible that Emma would have ended up stealing that yellow bug, even with a loving mother.

But even if she'd grown up wealthy and stealing was the last thing on her mind, I still don't see why it would have made it unlikely for her to fall in love with someone like Neal. He has a lot of good qualities, he's a loving and warm person, intelligent, humorous and imatinative. A common background isn't everything, there's more to love than that.

I look at it as, if Emma had that different background I mentioned, she never would have met Neal. No meeting Neal, no falling for him.

They could have met differently than they did though. Just not sure that an Emma who's not a loner and/or a thief would have felt a connection with Neal like she did in Tallahassee.

I agree that it would be very different, but I also think that they were destined to meet and I just can't imagine Emma spending time with Neal without falling in love with him.
