I think we can be pretty sure she would have tried to kill them. She tried to kill Emma even after she decided to leave SB. Of course it would have been difficult to explain all of this to Emma.

Yes. Emma wouldn't understand why it would be a problem to fight Regina for custody. Explaining to her that Henry was adopted by a dangerous witch would not be any easier than explaing to her that she's the savior and that Snow and Charming are her parents.

I don't think so either. Maybe if August would have helped them, but since he didn't want them to be together. he had no reason to help.
