I like the idea of couples working through their conflicts together. Unfortunately that happens almost never on tv shows.

All ships are different. It depends on the show runner and how much their willing to invest in a couple. Sometimes angst can be realistic and sometimes there can be a beautiful reunion. Sometimes the angst is contrived or out of the blue.
I think it's best to not take couples for granted |

So do I. In STs case it was completely unnecessary to add Tamara to the story. Neal and Emma had so many problems and it would have taken them quite awhile to work through everything even without her.
