Watched Tallahassee with twelve year old relation, I'm not sure if I've rewatched the whole thing since it came out. I know I don't watch the arrest scene. Fast forward button, you are my friend.

But, obviously, this time I watched the whole thing. I realized how the cops played Emma, although the watches still being in the locker makes no sense unless we really do bring in the Home Office or someone who was much more interested in tracking down Neal than in getting back the stolen merchandise. The video evidence against Emma meant nothing unless they knew and prove the watches were there. Even then, Emma could have reasonably claimed she had no knowledge that she was doing anything wrong. A guy asks her to pick up something in a locker for him. Maybe suspicious but not criminal. He's got the key, and getting something out of a locker at the station is not a crime.

But, the cop lies to her and tells her her boyfriend set her up. He only asks her about Neal, though, after he asks if she knows her rights. That's when Emma is tricked into saying something that could be considered a confession.

Btw, I hit pause to explain to the twelve year old that, while she would be in big trouble if she ever got involved in high-scale robbery (or low scale robbery), if a situation like this ever comes up, keep your mouth shut and ask for a lawyer. Use that right to remain silent. I also told her that people on the show had confirmed it was August who called the cops.

They clearly had not evidence against Emma aside from that. She might have claimed (though she shouldn't have done so without a lawyer present) that a guy asked her to get the bag for him. Maybe he told her some people--she assumed he meant crooks--were watching him. She got him the bag, he checked it, tossed her the watch, and said, "Thanks, kid." End of story.

First of all I don't think AE researched holding the bag so it might not be realistic.
I do think Emma in that moment was in a state of heartbreak that she wasent thinking clearly. She had just found out her boyfriend betrayed her in her head.

"When she says there gone their not coming back" She's convincing herself that Neal's not coming back. She's not really thinking about the police her mind is focused on the betrayal.
I can't write anymore or Ill start crying. I really wish we saw more of the Neal and August conversation

They really should have given us the rest of that conversation.

I agree. There's too much missing from that episode. I always thought we'd get more of it later, but sadly that never happened.

I also agree about the evidence. The police was looking for Neal. They knew Emma didn't steal the watches, but somehow finding Neal wasn't important after they had Emma.

As long as someone went to jail for it, they were happy.

It's so sad to think that she was all alone. There was no one to help her. Not, while she was in prison and not after.

The least he could have done was to be there for her like he promised.
