I agree. I don't think he could have been truely happy without Emma, but he could have found happiness with Henry.

Emma saw that and saw her feelings for Neal. Why at the echo cave she was afraid to lose him again and said what she did. It was painful, for both of them. She told RUmple that she loved him.

As much as his death was an awful event we have to see what good we got from the scene. He died knowing that Emma forgave him, loved him. That his son would know who he really was . the hero.
That he found his father again, not the DO.
Neal brought all that to those he loved, and was a hero. Why Snowing named thier child after him..

Believe me, I'm trying to see the good in season 3 and there are things that I'm truely grateful for. It would have been really easy for the writers to ruin Neals character, but they didn't. I'm not happy with how little screentime he (and especially ST) had, but he was very well written in all of his scenes. His reaction to Emmas confession couldn't have been better. There was never any doubt of the love he felt for her or Henry. He put her happiness first and fully recognized his own mistakes. It's the way Emma was written that's a problem for me. More often than not her behaviour just didn't make sense to me. I know that Neal hurt her deeply in the past and I get that she was afraid of being hurt again. I don't blame her for being cautious or not wanting to jump into a relationship with him right away. I'm okay with all of that. It's the little things inbetween that bothered me. But I'm very glad she was there when he died and I'm glad she wanted to get Henry, so Neal could see him one last time.

I know. He fooled himself into believing he could have that with Tamara, but it wasn't the same.

MRJ and Jen have such an amazing chemistry. I was hoping we'd get to see a lot more of it in season 3.
