One of the interesting things I thought about the commentaries was that A/E said that Emma saw Neal in Hook. With that in mind I would feel that Emma always loved Neal, would have ended up with him had he not died since the qualities she loves and found in a new relationship is what she saw in Neal.

Emma would never have moved passed her love for Neal, if Neal were alive and what she saw in Hook was like Neal than I don't think she would have moved on. They would have rekindled their love.

I think that also helps when watching the show and seeing Emma with another it's because she sees Neal in them.

I have read what was said in the commentary. And I understand the point in Emma recognizing the similarities between the two men.

But unless I'm mistaken, Adam and Eddy also said in a podcast they did for ABC, that Emma believing that Neal betrayed her at the time was the very reason she couldn't trust Hook at first, because she didn't want to get burned again.

So it's really Emma who had to let her walls come down and realize that despite the similarities that her history wouldn't be doomed to repeat itself, because things were different.

That has nothing to do with a ST appreciation thread. I was bringing up what I interpreted from the commentary to add to the ST thread
The comparison I feel is why she can move on. She loved Neal absolutely and sees him in Hook and is able to love again because of that. The gift Neal left her with was true, and she can love again because of that.

I imagine she can see the good/bad aspects in her new relationships in comparison to Neal. But from the commentary I gathered Neal was the standard that she wanted and she saw that in Hook.

So for ST fans this is good, as much as Neal may have betrayed her, others have as well. She now understands and recognizes why it happened, his regret and his love for her. So even if Neal is never mentioned ( I doubt that will be the case) it's Neal that is the standard to which her future relationships will meet. She sees Neal in her future relationships.

I won't comment on that. I think things very different but I do believe she thought of the good and bad of Neal for 11 years. I do agree that Neal will be mentioned again, I mean Rumple is still grieving
