When young, both Snow and Charming were clearly both romantics and believed in true love, and probably dreamt about meeting someone like each other - and then they found each other at a time when both had probably stopped believing it would actually happen.

I love the whole episode, that scene included. Even in his grief, Chamring draws so much comfort and strength from being with Snow.

They really are such a great example of that. Even when they had fights, they never got truly nasty with each other or belittled the other (not counting curses, obviously, but even during the shattered sight spell, Charming helped Snow fight Regina).
