It's very odd, but Emilie made my jaw drop when she said at Dutch CC that Rumple has never, and could never, choose power over love........funny, I remember him doing just that in 6B finale.

Actually, he didn't really do that until "Beauty" (Otherwise why would he wait 10 years before telling Belle?). And I don't know the exact quote, but maybe Emilie just meant Rumple is unable to get rid of his power even if he wanted to? That even if he's mentally chosen love over power, he hasn't really done so in practice as he's still the DO? Not that it's his fault. Otherwise that's such a weird sentiment

He did choose love over power in S6 finale when he rejected the BF’s offer, but even if I were to concede the point, he did so in Beauty. It almost seems as if she completely forgot about Beauty, because in post-episode interviews, she spoke of how beautiful it was that Rumple was willing to give up how power to be with Belle. Beauty was only a few months ago; how is it possible that she doesn’t remember the thrust of that entire episode ?

Here’s the link so you can hear her comments yourself - there’s no confusion; she was rather emphatic about it. You guys will interpret it as you will, but to me she was completely straightforward.

I loved all the Belle mentions. Those are the only clips I actually watched.

And Belle must be so proud of him.

I don’t take things said at conventions all that seriously anymore. If Rumple doesn’t choose love over power, which I think he actually has done several times, then that would make his whole journey meaningless. I just can’t see that happening.

Of course - and he has already chosen love over power, most recently in Beauty; however, Emilie seems to have forgotten that. It's just very strange to me......

That said, I admit I’m overtired - and even if it is strange, it’s not a big deal...

Ok, I watched that video. The question is about why the TLK doesn't work anymore, even now that Rumple seems ready to let go of his power. I believe Emilie's exact answer is somewhat like this:
