Oh damn, Regina - so easy to manipulate. Just show her an ounce of caring and she does whatever you want. Works with Henry and works with Cora as well. None of it is healthy.

Since it seems that we are now back to Regina wanting to get Henry back no matter if he wants that or not, it will be interesting to see if some of the progress she made over the first half of the season will stick or if all of it will get swallowed by Cora's plans. I hope to see some struggle as well as her not enjoying being bad/evil because it leaves her empty and she recognizes it.

She really really needs to develope a sense of herself. Everyobody around her tells her who she is and that she isn't capable of change. Time to prove them wrong, sweetie! Right now I'm hoping for a final confrontation with Cora by the end of the season and for Regina to sever those ties. Just like she did with Daniel, she has to say good-bye to the wishful thinking that her mother will change and she also has to recognize that she really isn't her mother (although I wish she had some help in this, just someone to tell this woman that she can be her own woman, a mix of good and bad like every human being and that she is worthy of love).
And then I want to get a final confrontation with Rumple by the end of the series where she confronts him with all the bs he pulled to make her his monster and she cuts those strings too.

I don't know... Overall I expected a lot more from this episode.

I figured they would make sure Regina would not be able to take Cora to "Emma, Henry and the two idiots", but I assumed there would be at least an explanation as to why both sides couldn't meet up on screen. It just didn't make any sense to me how Snow claimed at the beginning of the episode that it was extremely important they find Regina before Cora gets to her, but then no one did anything and they just sat around and waited at the hospital as if they had all the time in the world and nothing else to worry about. I thought they would at least try to call Regina if they didn't make the connection between "underground" and the crypt, but nothing. And this is what bugs me this season. Little things like that could change a lot, but they're completely ignored and we're either left to fill in all the blanks ourselves or asked to ignore the hole in the plot if we don't want to do that.

And I hope they did not just send half a season worth of character development down the drain in one scene. Because... just no. I do understand what they're trying to show us about the Regina and Cora relationship and it makes perfect sense, but you can't deal with this in one single scene. That's not doing the characters and their dynamic the kind of justice they deserve. That being said, I have read a couple of theories on Tumblr that Regina may be playing Cora to a certain degree and they do sound pretty valid to me. Guess we'll have to wait and see. It certainly looks like Evil Queen Regina in the promo, but then again maybe that's Cora posing as her daughter again. Just because Regina seems to have given in in the car scene Cora won't stop trying to isolate her even further and make sure she stays "receptive".

I liked:

• Cora letting herself into Regina's house. Creepy, but oh so good.
• Jared and Lana. They were so cute and even though it was obvious it wasn't really Henry I enjoyed those little moments before Cora revealed herself. The hugs between Jared and Lana are the cutest thing ever.
• Regina's reaction when she thought Henry had come to find her. She was so happy and relieved and I loved how important it was to her to explain herself to him. One can only imagine how things would have gone if the real Henry had tried to contact her after he found out about Archie.
• The first mother and daughter scene. Lana and Barbara knocked it out of the park, there's no other way to describe it. It also showed how much Regina has grown.
• "Emma, and Henry, and the two idiots." It will never stop being funny.
• Cora's comment about "carriages" in Storybrooke. It was about time someone commented on how strange this must be for them.
• The Cora and Regina convo about Henry's handprint mold and how Cora got into the house.
• Oh, and even though it's not a Regina scene: Everything about Gold and Cora in his shop, right down to the kiss. It makes me a little twitchy to think the two of them had something going on in the past, but damn, Barbara and Robert work well together. Not really surprising but still great to watch.

I really hope that we get to see how Regina struggles with turning around again. That said, the way I read the scene in the car wasn't so much about Regina turning bad again but about Regina giving Cora the same chance she hopes Henry gives her - to prove that she is willing to change. It may be a absolutely minor thing but right before Regina gives into Cora, her mother asked her what she wants. Cora asks Regina what she wants! And this is important because never before in her life Cora was interested in what her daughter wants. We all remember Regina's pleading about wanting to be free, about not wanting to marry the king - it never mattered to Cora. So now for her to acutally show an interest in what her daugther wants is progress in Regina's eyes and I think proof that Cora is willing to work with her instead of dominating her.

I definitely need to see her struggle some more. She tried so hard to change all season and she was so strong in their first scene together. It's too bad we didn't get a Canadian promo this week because they usually show a lot more of the important stuff than ABC promos and maybe we could have gotten a clue about what's going on with Regina (?) and the Giant in 2x13 and where Cora is during all of this. If this is not her shapeshifting again.

It may have worked a little better for me if they'd had one more Cora and Regina scene between Regina calling her mother a manipulative b... who wanted her broken and didn't deserve her trust/love and the end of the car scene. Both scenes were great in itself and Regina's mommy issues making her vunerable to Cora's attempts to win her back makes perfect sense, but it just felt like there was something missing and we only got the bare essentials again. At least so far.
