I think these two do such a good job playing mother and daughter despite the fact that they are nearly the same age, lol. That would be hard to do, imo. But they really sell it.

They really do. And they sold the best friends relationship in season 1. It would be hard to change the dynamic that drastically but they did it.

Jen looks like a little girl, when they woke from the curse and Emma says "so its true" and Snow turns around "You found us"
I dont know how Jen managed to do that but she looked like a baby

There's always an undercurrent of something tragically lost between them, and it can never be restored. Something always seems to be amiss between them in scenes, and why I think Emma bonding with Charming is so different and seems a tad bit easier. There's a sadness to it for me, and I like that they've carried that through out the seasons.
