Once Upon A Fan interview with Lana Parrilla at SDCC 2013

Some speculation about what may be ahead for Regina in season 3, but no actual spoilers. Worth checking out because the interview mentions what an awesome episode "The Cricket Game" really was and Lana adds some thoughts on that and the confrontation between Regina and Emma towards the end of the ep.

^Born to be bad, redemption probably won't stick, we all love the Evil Queen... That doesn't sound very promising. I love the Evil Queen in flashbacks, but not in present time. It seems that all the character development in season 2 was kind of pointless. But I guess we'll see.

I was worried upon hearing the first couple of her post panel interviews. But listening to a slew of the Comic Con panel media followups, I realized the actress was also making other comments as well. So by omission, my opinion is she means she'll go all Evil Queen in Neverland against Henry's abductors. Not against her extended family. In one interview she even quotes Charming's comment to her in episode 2x 21 ... "family".

Like you I prefer the monsterous "Evil Queen" in flashbacks.

Also, one of Jennifer Morrison's interviews, she mentions that the first episode filmed an extra 3-4 days. Don't know if this is normal, but it does get me excited for the return of the series.

That sounds good and I hope you're right.

I think they'll definitely need some of the qualities Gold and Regina's fairytale alter egos have to offer in Neverland and I don't mind conflict (and I think it's inevitable, actually) between the various members of the Henry rescue mission concerning the way they should go about things, dealing with Pan and the lost boys, etc., once they reach the island, but I do hope all of them focus on helping Henry and doing what's best for him instead of turning against each other again too much instead.

I think Comic Con was not exactly an easy situation for Lana and her castmates since they'd only seen the scripts for the first two episodes and Adam and Eddy apparently didn't give their actors a lot of new info they were allowed to share with the press. So I tend to think everything they did say is relevant for the season premiere and maybe 3x02, but not so much for the season as a whole. But I very much agree with you guys that the Evil Queen is fun in flashbacks, but I don't need another season of back and forth writing and regression for present day Regina. I think Lana doesn't mean "born to be bad" in the sense of she's hereditary evil, but more like she's been treated like a pawn since before she was born. But yeah... it does still sound kinda strange, coming out of Lana's mouth.
